Public Cloud …… Why NO

In the recent era of Technology where everything is moving towards Subscription model, cloud is the must GO direction. Not only It will help to control the cost of Infrastructure but also provide the feasibility of On-Demand services that can make the prominent impact on the cost of services.

Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud are the key players in the era and come in the market with variety of services offered. With all the fancy words and figures, even now a huge number of people are scared to go for the cloud. There are several reasons for that and those reasons have been discussed many times in Seminars & workshops. The below are the key points of WHY People are avoiding cloud.
1. Recurrence costing model.
2. Data Security.
3. Invisibility of Infrastructure.
4. Cloud is SLOW.
5. Job cut for IT People.
Apart of all the above reasons, there is a hidden fact that is nowhere in discussion might be because of its nature or might be it is related to People not Technology. That fact directly hits the consumer trust on the cloud service providers. Soon those consumers realized that the Cloud Services they subscribed expecting will make their life easy is in fact the Dark Clouds with no RAIN and in the end they have to justify their management for taking the decisions or sometime losing their job as well.

And that fact is THERE IS NO CLOUD, ITS ONLY SOMEONE ELSE COMPUTER !!

As the Cloud kicks IN the market, a lot of fake cloud provider started positioning their IT Setup as cloud. The non-Technical management doesn't even consider the fact that a pure cloud solution requires some MUST components including a fully Highly Available Setup, Automation, Security and Orchestration etc. Their claim of having a cloud Setup and approach to Market starts getting them Lead and sales both but when it will come to POST Sales experience, the consumer had the worst experiences that cost with the TRUST of the companies on the Cloud.
The No Visibility and sales tactics that trap companies to go for Local cloud subscriptions are the major reason people are not having faith on the Cloud services now. After getting deceive from these so called Cloud providers, those consumers start avoiding the major cloud providers also like Microsoft, AWS. The only option left for them is to go back to ON-Premise solution, the companies who are financially strong enough move to ON-Premise infrastructure that means their doors will close for cloud services for at least next 3 years.

ANY Solution !!!
The solution is to make sure that service we are subscribing for IT is fully met the company policies and requirement. Few checks that need to be done e.g.
1. The cloud is hosted in secure premises.
2. The cloud infrastructure is designed and deployed properly.
3. There is no SPO (Single Point of Failure) in the setup.
4. A Setup of 3 Physical Server connected to a Single Storage having Virtualization platform is NOT CLOUD AT ALL.
5. Have a count on the team who is maintaining the cloud infrastructure.
6. Do not give the MSP to the same Cloud service provider. It's a trap when cloud service provider ask you to have managed cloud subscription. Have your own team so that they can identify if there is any issues in Service.
7. Have a proper NDA and SLA signed with cloud service provider. If possible, add Penalty clause in the contract.



Cloud is definte next Big thing in IT World and simply one shouldnot close their eyes from this fact.
